Who runs this site

Do Your Own Research (“DYOR”, “we”) publishes the research reports at doyourownresearch.me. The site is a static publication hosted on GitHub Pages. It has no accounts, no logins, no newsletter, no comment system and no forms — there is nothing here for you to submit personal information to, and we do not ask for any.

What we collect directly

Nothing that identifies you by name. We do not operate our own database, and we never sell data. Two categories of information reach us:

• Hosting logs. GitHub Pages serves these pages and, like any web host, processes your IP address and browser user-agent to deliver them. That processing is governed by GitHub’s privacy statement.
• Aggregate analytics. Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-P4WW7R7LGK) records which pages are read, roughly where readers are, and how they arrived. We use it to decide what to publish next. We do not attempt to identify individual readers from it.

Cookies and similar technologies

This site sets no cookies of its own. Cookies you encounter here are placed by the third parties below, in your browser, under their own policies.

• Google Analytics sets measurement cookies (_ga and related) to distinguish one visit from another.
• Google AdSense and its advertising partners set cookies and read device identifiers to serve, cap and measure advertisements.

Blocking or clearing cookies in your browser settings will not break this site. Every report remains fully readable with cookies disabled, with an ad blocker running, or with JavaScript restricted.

Advertising

This site carries advertising served by Google AdSense (publisher ID ca-pub-5744142489358762). Advertisements are labelled as such and are placed outside the body of each report — never inside the argument, the evidence ledger or the source list. Advertisers have no involvement in, or advance sight of, what we publish, and no advertisement should be read as an endorsement by us or of us.

• Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.
• Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
• You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
• You can opt out of a third-party vendor’s use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info/choices, or, in Europe, at youronlinechoices.eu.
• How Google uses information from sites that use its services is described at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

Your choices

• Consent. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, Google’s consent message appears before personalised advertising cookies are set. Your choice there governs how ads on this site are personalised, and you can change it at any time from the message’s controls.
• Analytics opt-out. Google publishes a browser add-on that blocks Analytics measurement on every site, at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
• Access and deletion. Because we hold no records that identify you, requests to access, correct or delete personal data are best directed to Google, which does. Their controls live at myaccount.google.com/data-and-privacy.
• Do Not Track. We add no tracking beyond what is described above, so there is nothing further for us to switch off in response to a DNT header.

Children

This site is written for a general adult readership. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes and contact

If this policy changes, the date at the top of the page changes with it, and the edit is visible in the site’s public commit history. Questions about this policy can be sent to privacy@doyourownresearch.me.
